Flora has started in the last week or so to wave to people who we see out in public. She seems disappointed if they don’t respond to her. She really tries to get their attention. For the most part she is very friendly unless she is in a foul mood and then she will yell “NO” at you and sometimes attempt to hit you which she did to a woman at the gymnastics center a couple of weeks ago. I just don’t know what do with her but I guess this is what parenting is all about.

Well Flora is officially talking and although she only says a few things verbally she knows what those things mean and makes herself understood. No!!!!!!!!, is the major word that comes out of her mouth and she is very clear about how she feels. She also says boots, book, stuck, apple, dada, mom, O (for Roscoe), bye bye, boo, and yes. She is still doing a lot of sign language which includes more, eat, milk, bath, yes, no, please, and thank you. I may be missing one or two words but this is most of what she is saying right now. For such a little person, it is amazing to me that she knows so much or at least what I think is a lot. She is good at copying and she can copy a word that you say but may not repeat it again. She also makes some animal sounds. She says meow, woof woof, baaa, mooo, snorts like a pig and makes the horse sounds as well. Tonight she started saying poop. I guess we talk about that a little too much between ourselves. I am always curious what will come next and am trying now to watch what I say because I don’t want to be the parent with the child who repeats inappropriate words in public. I wouldn’t be surprised if that does happen to us.

I don’t even know where to start. It has been such a long time since we have written any thing. We have certainly been busy. As most of you know, we have moved back to Monterey and we are just loving it so much. This is where our hearts are and we couldn’t think of any where better for us to live. Flora is so big now. She seems to change just about every day. She is walking every where. I have to be quick to keep up with her. She is learning some signs and can pick up new ones pretty quickly. I think she knows the signs for more, all done, milk, drink, eat, please, want, no and bath. We are really trying to keep up with this. It has helped us out a lot. I have been working for my aunt and uncle watching my two cousins which has been great. Flora has a lot of fun with both of them and they are also enjoying her. It’s nice to be able to work and have her with me. She calls our cat Roscoe “o” which is very cute. She just loves him and he really puts up with her not so gentle way with him. She also will say uh-oh, mom, dad or dada, this, and she will sometimes say yummy. She also has hair and lots of it. Once it started growing it just kept on going. It’s just so perfect. I hope this catches you all up on our lives right now and we will be better at writing from now on. So keep on checking in with us.

He is so cute and a tiny little guy but is growing well. I hate not being closer but hopefully we will visit often. Flora visited the aquarium for the first time which was fun. She seem interested in spurts. There were a lot of people which was distracting to her. Hopefully we will be back there more as she gets older to see how she reacts at different stages of her development. It was a lot of fun and the weather was great as usual.

We are still making everything and plan to keep doing that. It has been working out well for us.

Flora has started to get up on all fours and is rocking back and fourth. I think she will be crawling soon. This is exciting and scarey all at the same time. I can’t believe we are already close to this milestone but can’t wait to see her move. I feel like my baby is getting so big and is turning into a little girl. The time has passed so quickly. She is already scooting all around on her belly. If she wants something she will get it. She is just not as fast as she would be if she were crawling. We all better watch out.

We celebrated with most of our family and some friends the day before Easter at my moms house. We had lots of fun. Flora was in her very cute yellow dress which was purchased about 4 months before she was born. She also had a cute white bow and a white sun hat. She didn’t do any egg hunting but next year I’m sure she will love it. She had her first swing experience which she seem to like. She was very content there for quite a while. It was a fun day and one we will remember always. On Easter day we spent time with Tami and Steve. We had dinner and just hung out and enjoyed the day.

She is our perfect baby and we can’t wait to see how her personality develpos as she grows.

Flora is eating solids now. She started with rice cereal about three weeks ago and is going through the veggies and just started fruit. The first few days of the veggies she did not like it at all. She would make a disgusted face and the after a few bites she pressed her lips together and refused any more. After about the third day she stared liking the veggies, I think it was the texture she wasn’t sure of. Now she opens wide for what ever we give her. She has had carrots, yams, squash, parsnips, banana and even a little yogurt. She loves all of it. We are making her food which has been a lot of fun for me and is much cheaper than buying it. Tonight I made peas and pears. Hopefully those will go over just as well as everything else has. We’ll let you know.
