We went to Monterey last weekend for Ryan’s work and to visit friends. Our friends Carisa and Arthur just had their son Arthur Elijah on April 14. He is so cute and a tiny little guy but is growing well. I hate not being closer but hopefully we will visit often. Flora visited the aquarium for the first time which was fun. She seem interested in spurts. There were a lot of people which was distracting to her. Hopefully we will be back there more as she gets older to see how she reacts at different stages of her development. It was a lot of fun and the weather was great as usual.

Flora is loving her food. Everything we give her she just loves. I hope this means we wont have a picky eater like her father but I guess time will tell. For now she eats lots of whatever we give her which has been fruits and veggies, yogurt, rice cereal and even a little bread here and there. We are still making everything and plan to keep doing that. It has been working out well for us.

Flora has started to get up on all fours and is rocking back and fourth. I think she will be crawling soon. This is exciting and scarey all at the same time. I can’t believe we are already close to this milestone but can’t wait to see her move. I feel like my baby is getting so big and is turning into a little girl. The time has passed so quickly. She is already scooting all around on her belly. If she wants something she will get it. She is just not as fast as she would be if she were crawling. We all better watch out.

We celebrated with most of our family and some friends the day before Easter at my moms house. We had lots of fun. Flora was in her very cute yellow dress which was purchased about 4 months before she was born. She also had a cute white bow and a white sun hat. She didn’t do any egg hunting but next year I’m sure she will love it. She had her first swing experience which she seem to like. She was very content there for quite a while. It was a fun day and one we will remember always. On Easter day we spent time with Tami and Steve. We had dinner and just hung out and enjoyed the day.

Flora just got an exersaucer from her grandma and she loves it. She will play in it for a good 15 to 20 minutes which gives me a little bit of a break during the day. She laughs at the toys and loves to put everything in her mouth. She stands up great in it and has good balance. This is a great contraption to have for both of us.

Flora’s personality is really starting to develop. She is stubborn, funny, happy, inquisitive, and sassy. We have no idea where she gets these from! (Ha Ha). She is entertaining and such a comic. She has the cutest laugh. She is so much fun to interact with. She has certainly come a long way from the fussiness of the first three months. She is our perfect baby and we can’t wait to see how her personality develpos as she grows.

Flora is eating solids now. She started with rice cereal about three weeks ago and is going through the veggies and just started fruit. The first few days of the veggies she did not like it at all. She would make a disgusted face and the after a few bites she pressed her lips together and refused any more. After about the third day she stared liking the veggies, I think it was the texture she wasn’t sure of. Now she opens wide for what ever we give her. She has had carrots, yams, squash, parsnips, banana and even a little yogurt. She loves all of it. We are making her food which has been a lot of fun for me and is much cheaper than buying it. Tonight I made peas and pears. Hopefully those will go over just as well as everything else has. We’ll let you know.

Flora has gotten her two bottom teeth! She has had them for about a month and a half. She doesn’t know what they are for yet and she loves to play with them with her tongue. She has started to bite a lot in the last few days which is not fun for the recipiant. She is just so darn cute with her toothy smile. Every little milestone is so exciting and we can’t wait for the next.

As parents Ryan and I have expanded our vocabulary in a way that neither of us ever thought would happen. The nicknames and funny words we come up with for Flora and things she does or has is quite hilarious. There are things we say that I could have never imagined we would ever say. Here is a look into our new vocabulary. Some of her nicknames are Honey Girl, Sweet Girl, Rooty toot toot, poopy pants, buddha belly, fussy mussy, cheeky monkey and various others. Some funny words include stinky pew pews, pee pee pants, burpies, explosive bowel, tum tum, diapies, milkies, jammy jammers (toe jam) and many others. We say these things all the time and of course our memory is failing us at this moment. We will add more words on here as we remember them. We also have an arsenal of songs we have come up with just for our little Flora which she enjoys.

I thought that once we got to the third or fourth month we would be on some sort of regular sleeping pattern. Oh No! Little miss Flora likes to keep things exciting and unpredictable. She is just as stubborn as both of her parents and does not like to go to bed. She has figured out that after bath time is bed time. Once Ryan starts to dry her off, she starts to scream. There were a few day a couple of weeks ago where she was sleeping one 7 to 8 hour stretch and then another 3 to 4 hour stretch and we thought that was wonderful. That only lasted about 5 days and now we are back to 3 to 4 hour cycles. I hope she will start developing a more regular sleep schedule to give us a little more rest. This is also a child who does not like to sleep during the day unless we are out and about or she is in my arms. I didn’t think it was possible that some babies don’t like to sleep. Oh was that a big suprise!
